Welcome to Marce's Place, a hub for my inspirations and interests. Come on in!
In no particular order, here are some artists and works that really inspire me.
I might not really be in the coding scene, but I sure do love the indie web. Here, I've gathered a bunch of links to sites on the indie web that I found charming, impressive, uniquely expressive, or otherwise fun to explore and sightsee in. I've sorted sites by my own little system, but I love them all just the same. Go check some out!
While the internet is not a physical space, its servers and visitors exist in one. As such, it feels important to include a recognition of some land of relevance to this site.
The land on which this site was coded and where the site-maker resides is the land of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, the Wendake-Nionwentsio, and the Mississauga nations. Stewardship of this land was either "ceded" via treaties — the spirit of which the colonizer governments have betrayed and continuously failed to renew — or outright stolen. This place I now call home always was, still is, and always will be Indigenous land.
Below is a link to a website called native-land. For those site visitors in the Americas or other former colonies (and especially those of colonizer descent like myself), I ask that you use this site to begin to learn more about the land on which you live. I also ask that you consider supporting Indigenous peoples through charities such as those hosted on canadahelps. For those interested, I have also added a link to Land Back: A Yellowhead Institute Red Paper for further reading.
The sculpture depicted in the diorama for Seventh Fire Park will be based on Dish With One Spoon and Two Row wampum belts.
